Washington, D.C. (Dec 3, 2013) — The Coalition of Franchisee Associations (CFA) extends a warm welcome to its newest member, the Maine Franchise Owners Association. With the latest addition, the CFA now represents 19 associations, whose members include 34,000 franchisees who own more than 80,000 businesses and employ more than 1.4 million individuals.
“We are excited about the creation of the Maine Franchise Owners Association and welcome their membership into the CFA,” said Keith Miller, CFA Chairman. “The formation of a state franchisee association is a model that allows franchise owners, who may not have the opportunity to join a brand association, the opportunity to gain the knowledge and benefits of a larger franchisee association. It also allows its members to focus on local and state issues that impact franchisees and small-business owners. We look forward to the Maine Franchise Owners Association being a valuable asset to the CFA.”
The Maine Franchise Owners Association is a group of multi-brand and multi-industry franchise owners dedicated to growing business and creating jobs in the state of Maine. The economic impact of franchise operations in Maine is substantial. There are over 3,500 franchised units in the State of Maine that directly employ over 38,000 Maine citizens with a payroll that exceeds $1 billion and a Gross Domestic Product approaching $4 billion, according to the International Franchise Association. It is important for Maine’s franchise owners to join together and create a collective voice to ensure smart growth franchising.
“CFA understands franchising, and most importantly, the relationship between franchise owners and their franchisor,” said Jim Coen, Executive Director of MFOA. “The information and experiences that CFA can provide on a national scale, from business owners in many different states, allows us to deliver the most up-to-date industry developments to our members here in Maine.”
“The Maine Franchise Owners Association is a new organization dedicated to assist franchise owners in Maine. We are excited to join the CFA because that group contains the most seasoned franchise owner leadership in the country from the biggest brands – we can learn from the CFA,” states Dave Walck, Government Relations Director, Maine Franchise Owners Association.
