of Franchising is Upon Us!
It’s the Ten Yard Line, we are in Red Zone.
You Can Help Us Put Points on the Board!
Maine Franchise Owners have been working for over a year to pass sensible legislation that provides basic equity protections for Franchise Owners in Maine. LD1458 aims to protect franchisees from “fraudulent or unfair practices in the termination, transfer or renewal of franchised businesses.”
The Bill Does Not Affect
Brand Standards Or Operations.
It Protects Your Ability to Build, Harvest and Perpetuate Your Hard Earned Equity.
The provisions contained in the bill revolve around the “5 Principals” established by the co-chairs of the Labor, Commerce and Economic Development Committee (LCRED) that require franchisors to act in good faith and with the standards of reasonable care when it comes to transfers, succession planning, termination, freedom of association and renewals.

We need your help. As a Maine small business, I’m asking you to please vote in favor of the “5 Principals” of the latest amended bill … the amendment is a long way from the original bill. And, your Committee just voted to once again expand protections for Maine’s auto dealerswho already have a very extensive law on the books.
We need your help. The large corporations fighting this bill’s passage don’t own a thing in Maine and don’t employ any Mainers. I and my fellow franchise owners do. We’re the people with the investment in Maine. We’re your neighbors and constituents.
Thank you for your consideration!
